Here at Sacramento Publishing we are starting to add external tracking to all of our sites. We want all of our advertisers (or potential advertisers) to see our stats. We use AWstats, PiWik, and Google Analytics to track all of traffic. This works great internally but does not help our advertisers see out true stats.
Many sites simply publish their web site traffic statistics, but how do you know it’s accurate? How do you know they site does not simply inflate the number to make them look busier than they actually are? Even if the site is not artificially inflating their web site statistic how do you know that you are comparing apples to apples? Many statistics gather software applications look at the same traffic very differently. For this reason we wanted to use a 3rd party application that was considered an industry standard.
